Farms & Prisons/Jails

The individuals in prison/jail have done something to according to our laws have negatively effected our society.  It make me wonder if there is something that they could be doing that would positively effect society while they are in prison.  Another potential benefit would be if the task would help develop them into better contributing members of society after they get out of prison.  Maybe start plants via seeds to later be replanted in community gardens?  Urban bee keeping.  Work with Keep Indianapolis beautiful.  Plant and Take care of fruit and nut trees at local parks.

Why might this be a valuable idea for Indy? This could be in partnership with the new criminal justice reforms being planned by the Mayor’s office. It would incorporate “dirt therapy” and offer a new skillset, similar to the approach Brandywine Farms offers.
